I've talked to you about Hilda on many occasions. This is the first time I've found some video to share with you.  Hilda was my teacher when I was a teenager.  Even in this little clip, I think you'll see very clearly how strong her influence was on me and how it remains a big part of me to this day.

When I was a teenager I used to attend Hilda's Thursday night Satsang. At that time we met at St Luke's Church in New York City's Greenwich Village. That was a profound experience for me, but there is way more to the story of Hilda's role in my life than what took place at those meetings.  (And, for anyone who was there, and I know you folks are out there because you write to me from time to time, you know that the energy of those gatherings was powerful, extra-ordinary, and inspiring enough to last a lifetime.)

There is more though…

I have to back up a bit. 

The reason I knew Hilda was because she was working intensely on healing my sister, Shelli.  In fact, one of my clearest memories of Hilda was when the doorbell would ring and my mother would open the door to our apartment. And there was Hilda, in her sari, and her English accent, and an aura of Love expanding out in every direction, unlike anyone else who ever rang our doorbell. 

And yet, this was a common occurrence.  Hilda was there, ringing our doorbell and entering our apartment like clockwork.

So, I've been reflecting on how huge Hilda's influence has been on me.  Her presence as a healer was such a big part of my formative years, that now, as I sit to do a YOFA jhe Session two times a week, I'm so grateful for my roots with someone who is probably one of the most remarkable healers and spiritual teachers of the 20th Century.

It's hard to describe the specific influence that Hilda still has on these remote inner alignment sessions that I do, but I want to acknowledge her and give her credit for much of my training – even if it was largely by osmosis!

When I do an inner alignment session for the people on the jhe list, I send an email explaining the specifics of the session.  I'm posting the email update that went out to the members today after I did today's jhe session.

"Many a person with lack of understanding will say, 'Stop your imagination!" or 'Don't lie!" and as a result, the child turns within and hides his or her true nature.  And perhaps the spiritual side of the child never opens again or because of this early scar, opens after they have suffered in the world unnecessarily, due to the hard shell of protection they created for themselves."

I pulled this quote from The New Sun by my teacher of many years ago, Hilda Charlton.

This book was written in 1989, and the children she is talking about are now moving into young adulthood.  So, if you are in your late teens or early twenties, this statement is directly for you.  And it is meant to soothe your spirit and inspire you to not only trust, but embrace your intuitive nature and your role in the evolution of human consciousness.

And if those born about 20 years ago with a deeper and broader intuition are crashing into the hardened belief systems of mass consciousness, what about those of us who may smilingly remember young adulthood but who are now watching our hair turn gray?  What about the sensitive souls who have struggled, maybe all our lives, in a world that seemed strange and unsympathetic to our sensitivities?

How did you deal with your spiritual perceptions when you were a child growing up in whatever decade you found yourself here? Did you have mentors?  Did you feel isolated?

The sensitivities of the children can humble us as adults.  These young fresh beings have access to something that we may have lost touch with long ago.

Let's love and welcome the spiritual perception in our children.  Let's revive and nourish it in ourselves.

I invite you to be the sensitive, beautiful, spiritual harbinger of the New Age that you most certainly are if you have read this far.

After reading the comments and emails I received on my last post,  I see that Hilda’s presence is still strong and her message still strikes a chord.

I lived in the city during intense parts of my life and a big segment of my spirit stays there.  But now, I rarely go.

Well, on Friday, I got on the train, rolled into Penn Station, and started walking down 7th Avenue.  The energy of the city greeted me like an old friend and I began an affirmation that went something like this: “God is helping me in every moment of every day.”  

After about half a block of that affirmation, maybe even less, I turned my head, and there, on a table of used books, was a familiar image of my teacher from so many years ago, Hilda Charlton.

In all my years of wandering the city, I have never seen one of her books out for sale.  It can be hard to find them in a bookstore, no less out on display on a busy street.  I knew this was related to my affirmation, and $5 later that book was in my bag and a big smile was on my face.

The book is called “The New Sun” and you can get it at http://HildaCharlton.com if it doesn’t just manifest in front of you.

Once you get the book, you can flip to page 45 and read the poem to a “Smiling Stranger.” Hilda says:

“How few in this hurly-burly of modern life pause to see God’s loving creation and His perfect image of beauty in the passerby…Greet all with a happy smile of inspiration and say to yourself, “Everybody, I love you.’”
