Happy New Year my friends.

I want to talk to you today about all those very powerful desires that you may be formulating right now.

(Scroll down to listen.)

[mc id="443" type="audio"]Quick Tips for Manifesting Your Heart’s Desire: Bite Sized Applications of Law of Attraction – Abraham-Hicks Study Group: The Vortex – Happy New Year![/mc]

Are you creating a list of resolutions, goals or intentions for the New Year?  I love doing that because this shifting of the calendar gives us an amplified feeling of a clean slate.  And a clean slate brings with it a feeling that anything is possible.  So we feel empowered as we look at desires that we may even have become very frustrated about in the past.  And now, with the New Year we have a renewed sense of possibility.  A rising of a feeling of empowerment and freedom to live the life your heart desires.

I was just listening to an Abraham CD and I want to share with you a perspective that dovetails perfectly with this energy of the New Year.

"When we speak of your past present and future, we acknowledge that during your past and even your present you are launching vibrational requests forward into your vibrational reality… What you call your future manifested reality is what we see as your present vibrational reality."

From the teachings of Abraham www.abraham-hicks.com

And so as we celebrate this landmark in time, and we look at the past year as the past and the new year as the future and we see our desires and goals as incomplete in the now and hopefully fulfilled in the future, we are not taking the Vortex into account.

My suggestion to you as you engage in this fun ritual of prepaving the New Year is to include your awareness of The Vortex. It's really just a simple flip of a switch.

Instead of seeing the items on your list as things you want to manifest as future realities, acknowledge them as your present vibrational reality.

Then you can resolve all your resolutions into one simple aim:  to be become a vibrational match to the you who lives in your Vortex.

Happy 2010!

With Love,
Rebbie

The new Abraham-Hicks book The Vortex offers a precise understanding that can dramatically improve our lives.  And it is simple:  We consciously decide to pay attention to the relationship between the two Vibrational vantage points within us.

Two Hums

Right inside of you, at all times, there is the hum of what you are thinking about:

  • your financial situation
  • or your partner (or the lack of…)
  • or your body
  • or your job
  • or your car
  • or your home
  • or your parents
  • or your children

. . . and there is also the hum of what your Inner Being is thinking about those same subjects.

When those two hums are harmonious like a choir, you feel good.

When those two hums are divergent, clashing, and sound like a radio pulling in two stations at the same time, one with your favorite song playing and the other with a negative news bulletin, you feel bad.

And so, this book points to a very clear priority for us.

Our job is to pay attention to how  we feel (easy!) and to take to heart the old Abraham-Hicks adage, "Nothing is more important than that I feel good."

Why?

Because when I feel good, I am in alignment with Source.  When I feel bad, I am not.

Live Call

I promised a live call for this study group and I'm really looking forward to connecting with you on the phone.

Appreciating the contrast – That's where we left off.

Let's pick it up right there.

I invite you to take a look at The Vortex, page 4, paragraphs 3 & 4.

Abraham is telling us that contrast is really variety.  So there we are.  We look around and we see things that are wanted and things that are unwanted.  Usually, the next thing we do is get focused on eliminating the unwanted thing.  Do you see that that comes form a place of disempowerment?  Now, we can start to see that same unwanted thing as merely a choice that we don't take. And then we can get going on the joyful focus on (and creation of) what is wanted.

When we see the contrast as variety, and when we understand that we choose with our attention, we start to step more fully into freedom.

"…all choices are made by giving attention to something." Page 4 The Vortex

That means that every time we pay attention to something unwanted, we are choosing it.

Well, if you didn't understand about Law of Attraction, that might seem like an outrageous statement.  But when you know that your thoughts are always attracting more thoughts that are like it, and when you understand that thoughts come together to form lived realities, it all starts to make sense.

So let's put this together with the last focus.

  • We came in with the intention to enjoy every moment.
  • When we lose touch with that enjoyment, it is a sign that we have forgotten who we are.  (And some of you have acknowledged that by simply observing that, you are able to tap back into an awareness of your innate empowerment and freedom – Thank you for your comments).

Now we are going one step further.  Now we see that your power is in your ability to deliberately place your attention.  This is how you make your choices.  It is elegantly simple. And not only that, but:

  • You are the only one who can do it (deliberately place your attention).
  • It costs nothing to do it (to choose your focus).
  • It can completely transform your life (deliberately placing your attention).

Negative Emotion

So, picking up from last time, when you find yourself upset about something, resistant, negatively focused, call it whatever you like, basically, when you are experiencing negative emotion in reaction to a person, a situation, a condition, now you realize that you are feeling powerless.  That's what feels so bad. Feeling powerless feels bad because it is not who you are.  You feel as though this troublesome person or thing or situation has more power in the unfolding of your life than you do.

Positive Emotion

Now, with this clear revelation, we're getting a big clue about where your power actually resides.  It is in the simple ability to choose your focus.  To deliberately place your attention. And when your (human) attention is in harmony with the attention of your Inner Being, the result is a feeling of positive emotion. (That is your emotional guidance system.)

Rooted in the Infinite by Rebbie StraubingIn an earlier post I told you that I would occasionally point out where all this talk about The Vortex dovetails with The Yoga of Alignment (YOFA). If you are working with Rooted in the Infinite, you'll easily see that this deliberate placing of attention is a function of the Z-axis.  You may find places in Rooted… where I talk about ping-pong balls, movie projectors, and a cascade of neutralization.  These are all ways of picturing what's going on invisibly as you deliberately select your focus.

Try This

Let's take our last experiment a little further.  When you've got something going on that you do not want, first watch your reaction.  Remember that it's telling you very clearly whether you are looking at the situation from a perspective that is in harmony with your Inner Being or not.

If there is upset with someone, or something, or some group of people, or some condition, look at how you can, right in that moment, change your focus.

This is the beginning of one of the most powerful realizations. Here, our eyes become open to the knowing that can completely transform our lives. This is the shocking realization that it is not the person or the situation that is the real cause of our upset.  And this is good news because if they were really the cause of our problems, we would really be powerless (because we cannot control them).

And  now we find out that it is our own choice of where we put our attention that is the cause of our emotional state. And now we are free because that is the only thing we can control. When you get this, angels sing, flowers bloom, rainbows fill the sky.  It's quite a moment.

Until the next…

With Love,
Rebbie

In the last focus, I asked you to consider Page 3 para. 3. of The Vortex by Esther and Jerry Hicks (The Teachings of Abraham)

I think I already mentioned we'd be going through this slowly, right?

Good, because now we move on to paragraph 4.

In respect for the copyright of this book, I will be using page and paragraph references most of the time, rather than direct quotes. I know this is less convenient, but while you have the book open, you can also get more context, read the surrounding ideas, and scribble in the margins to your heart's content.

Enjoyment

Ok, so last time we pondered the notion of going from enjoyment to enjoyment. We considered the idea of having set a pre-birth intention to enjoy every moment.

Now let's go a little further.

Please read the paragraph that begins with, "Before your birth into your physical body…" P3 p4

Contrast

Now, let's talk a little bit about contrast.  Abraham often asks you if you have "come to appreciate the contrast of your time and place."  Here, on page 3 of The Vortex, we're finding out that our relationships with each other are the primary source of the contrast we live.  Interesting!  And yet we welcome it (from our non-physical perspective). We love it.  We can't get enough of it!

So please consider this:

When you:

·    are harmonized with your broader knowing
·    feel empowered
·    don't feel like a victim of the contrast you are living

. . . you welcome the contrast.  You perceive the contrast as the birthplace of your expansion and your potential for joy.

Then, all these relationships that run hot and cold, with their highs and lows, and all the contrast we find with the people in our lives, it all becomes the raw material of joy.

So, now it is apparent that the idea of setting a pre-birth intention of enjoying every moment has infinite potential.  But maybe not the way we thought at first.

Where we might have originally read that statement of an intention for continuous enjoyment and interpreted it to mean that life would be a series of enjoyable, pleasurable moments, we now see a completely different picture emerging.

And what a relief!

Because, if the fulfillment of our intention for enjoyment were dependent on conditions, we'd be in big trouble, fast.

Empowerment

But what a breath of fresh air it is to know that the contrast is welcome – that our enjoyment of the moment is not conditional – that we are in charge of our state, regardless of conditions.  Whew!  This is good news.

Well, maybe it's not news to you.  Maybe you've gone to seminars and read books and you've held this conscious idea for many years.  (Me too.) Good.  Now we can all deepen our living of this knowing, no matter what our relationship to this truth is at this moment – whether it's old news or new news.

Try This

So here is a little game you can play.  When you've got something going on that you do not want, watch your reaction.  It will tell you very clearly whether you are looking at the situation from a perspective that is in harmony with your Inner Being or not.

If there is upset with someone or something or some group of people, or some condition, all that means is that the feeling is one of disempowerment.  In that moment there is a feeling of being a victim.   At this point, so early in our journey together, let's feel the empowerment of simply noticing these moments as they happen.

More to come…

With Love,
Rebbie

The comments (your comments) on this blog are the heart of this discussion.  I've been enjoying sensing the high level of involvement in the book and the authenticity of the offerings of all of you who are part of this study group.

And so, of course I want to encourage the flow of your sharing as part of the joyful journey into, and back into, and back into The Vortex.

Here is a technical tuning I want to highlight today.

I received this email which told me that some clarification would be useful:

Hi Rebbie,
Thanks for starting the Votex group -love it!  Just some quick feedback – when i came to post my comment, I could only find one area to comment.  In a previous email, I thought you had created a section where we could share under different topics such as AHA, process etc, but i could only find a place to comment under the daily blog.  Maybe it's hard to set up, but that would make it easier to keep all comments about the same topics in one place.

Thank you again for creating this gigantic flow of positive transformative energy xxx

It's true, there is only one place to comment.  I was suggesting that you could make the first line of your comment a category if you like. That way readers can organize their reading of the comments in a way that suits their mood. Here were the suggested categories:

  • Question – This will be helpful to me so that I can scan through and get to questions as quickly as possible.
  • Aha – Good for sudden realizations.
  • Sharing – How it is working in your life.
  • Pondering – Think out "loud" as you process

Feel free to create your own category or to not use any.

With Love,
Rebbie

PS – I just left a comment on this post as an example.

How different would your life look if you went from enjoyment to enjoyment?

Listen to today's focus here:

[mc src="http://blogaudio.s3.amazonaws.com/vortex/yofa-vortex-sg-p3.mp3"/]

Today's focus may surprise you with its simplicity.  And yet it is at the basis of everything we are about to do. (Can you see how this is a hint about your Inner Guidance System?)

And have you been reading the comments? They are uplifting and filled with light and wisdom. Your "word snapshots" of your process carry us all forward. Thank you for such beautiful participation.

Here is a suggestion from Cathy that I want to highlight for those who might not be aware of this:

I haven't received my book yet… it's on backorder from Hay House, but I thought I'd pass this on.  You can subscribe to Abraham-Hicks' Daily LOA Quote at the link below. The quotes are all from 'The Vortex,' I believe. So, in a way I've gotten started with my reading.

Yes, right now they are from "The Vortex" and what a great idea, especially for those who are eagerly waiting for the book!

Part One of The Vortex by Esther and Jerry Hicks and Abraham is so concentrated that we could probably devote ourselves to that one section and never run out of juice.

I’d like to go through these mini-chapters with a fine tooth comb. So, I recommend that you read the book at your own pace, and let’s use this first segment of the book as a hub.

Feel free to refer to other parts of the book in your comments if you’ve read ahead.  Think of our study as multidimensional and multi rhythmic.

Here’s what I mean by that:

Your individual reading, focus, and application of the book may run faster and include more specifics, while our study here is slow and deep.  With time, you will see many connections between your own private exploration of this teaching and the conversations we are about to have.

So, let these two run side by side.  Something wonderful is happening here.

Notes:

Abraham-Hicks
I’d like to take a moment here to thank Jerry and Esther and Abraham for their profound influence on my life.  And since you are interested in "The Vortex," I want to encourage you to sign up for their tape programs, read their books, and go to their live workshops.  (You probably already do all that!)

YOFA (The Yoga of Alignment)
I’d also like to take a moment to acknowledge that, since I’ll be leading this group, our focus will no doubt take on a YOFA flavor.  I know some of you are deeply involved in the YOFA process of Inner Alignment while others may never have heard of it before.  As we move through "The Vortex" I’ll be pointing out some of the beautiful dovetailing that occurs.

Q & A

A couple of people asked if this is a good book to start with if they’re new to the Abraham Teachings .

I answered one of these questions as follows:

I think it's just fine to jump right in with this book.

If you really want to get one other book as a foundation, I'd get "Ask and it is Given." But really, Abraham is always full and complete in each now so I think you'll be just fine.

Also, have you heard their intro recordings? You can listen or download for free here:

I invite your input to help the newcomers feel their way through this rich material. How would you answer that question?

Abraham-Hicks Study Group: The Vortex – Jerry's Preface/Stable Footing/Your Intention

Focus: Pages xi-xvii Preface by Jerry Hicks

Jerry describes the "hub" of the Abraham teachings as follows:

"The basis of life is freedom; the result of life is expansion–and the purpose of life is joy."

 =========================
We interrupt this broadcast…
=========================

Well, I wrote that yesterday in preparation for this post, but as life would have it, some blessed contrast caught my attention between then and now.  So, with Jerry's quote as a backdrop, let me tell you what just happened.

I was riding in my friend's car, "The Vortex" and pencil in hand, re-reading chapter one.  Basking in the wonderful feeling of our upcoming study group, appreciating the pull to read even more carefully because of my role in all this, I was marking up a storm in the book.

Beautiful day, we stopped, I got out of the car, lost my footing, injured my ankle and was now back in the car seat, ice, moans, groans, and having a harder time finding my way back into The Vortex.

Once the pain came down to a dull roar, I picked up my book again.  "Hmm. Where was I? Let me start reading again to remind myself what's important here."

I found the last line that I had read and underlined.  There it was on page 9. – Oh by the way, although I probably will not get around to posting this today, today's date is 09/09/09:

"Without exception, the flawed premise or unstable footing that most people stand on is because they care more about what someone else is thinking about them than how they themselves are feeling." – from The Vortex – Abraham-Hicks

Well, there was my first big "step one experience" to "kick" off our group with a bang.  Now I am excited.  Better understanding what "unstable footing" really means, I can see I've got my work cut out for me. I call it "work" but it is thrilling to anticipate the journey of caring less what others think and tuning more into how I feel.

So let's begin with these two notions:

  1. "The basis of life is freedom; the result of life is expansion–and the purpose of life is joy."
  2. "Without exception, the flawed premise or unstable footing that most people stand on is because they care more about what someone else is thinking about them than how they themselves are feeling."

Those who want to be actively involved in this group, please do 2 things right now:

  1. Since there are so many people interested in this group, please register here so that I can communicate with you more easily:
SIGN UP FOR THIS GROUP HERE
  2. Start getting your hands in the clay and comment below.  Make a rough statement of your intention.

The focus offered in this book can generate a complete transformation in your life.

Start pondering these 2 quotes (above) and write your thoughts in the comment field below.  Since this is a process, your comment does not need to be a finely crafted purpose statement for your life.  Write down a "work in progress" rough sketch of your intention in reading this book and in intensifying your reading by joining in this group. Make it as general or specific as you like. You can and will continually amend your intention.

By writing, you sharpen your focus and tune your point of attraction.

You also heighten your inner guidance. Pay special attention to how you feel as you write. I love when something I think is true for me feels wrong when I write it. It gives me clarity about a place where I am off track and I can look more purely into my heart for what my true desire is. This is a great way to more finely tune in to your Inner Guidance.

As always, I am deeply honored that you join me on this journey.

With Love,
Rebbie

Abraham-Hicks Study Group: The Vortex – Step One – Get the Book

Wow.  What a great response to the idea of a study group. Okay.  We're on.

If you just landed here, to fill you in, yesterday I sent out a mailing suggesting a blog-based study group focused on the Abraham-Hicks book The Vortex. I said if we had 20 comments on yesterday's blog post by the end of the week, I'd do it.  If we had 40 comments I'd lead a live teleseminar.

Well, within 2 or 3 hours we had 40 comments. Now there are even more. Thank you for so clearly expressing your interest. I hear you!

So, here's the plan:

Since so many of you already have the book, we'll get going very soon.

Today I want to cover 2 main points:

  1. Get the book if you don't already have it.
    • Special offers when you buy the book:
      •   Even if you already bought the book, you might still be eligible.
  2. The focus/purpose/aim of this study group.

SPECIAL OFFERS ON THE ABRAHAM-HICKS BOOK THE VORTEX

  • Hay House has very generously put together some audio bonuses when you buy the book from them.
  • Hay House has also organized some tasty bundles at discount prices
  • If you prefer to buy the book on Amazon or B&N (or if you already did) you can still get bonus recordings and enter a contest to win Abraham goodies. Click here and scroll down and click on the book. In the middle of the page you will see the words "Hay House is offering a variety of prizes and gifts to celebrate the release of The Vortex"

THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY GROUP

It's kind of funny to use the word "study" because this is far from an intellectual pursuit.  We are involved in an experiential/vibrational process as we immerse ourselves in this material.  And yet the word "study" pleases me because it implies deliberate focus.  And that is closer to the point.

One way to describe the purpose of this study group is to use the power of our virtual connection with each other to create a hum.  Like a vibrational choir – one that you hear with your heart rather than your ears.  That hum is in harmony with the Vortex of Creation that is individual for each one of us and yet rings out in the richness of all of our relationships.

A simpler way to say it is that the purpose of this study group is to encourage us all to get in the Vortex.

HOW TO USE THIS GROUP

We tend to read passively.  This blog now offers you another option.  You are invited to read, digest, move the message through the uniqueness of your life, and then share something that others will read. You also have the good fortune to be able to read what other wise travelers experience with the book as they comment here. I'll offer the structure and do my best to answer questions, but this is your show. You get to shine your light here.  Get to know each other. Have some fun. Let's see how it goes!

If you like, you can begin your comments with a one word category. Here are some suggestions:

  • Question – This will be helpful to me so that I can scan through and get to questions as quickly as possible.
  • Aha – Good for sudden realizations.
  • Sharing – How it is working in your life.
  • Pondering – Think out "loud" as you process

You can also indicate the page(s) that prompted your comment.  That way the others in the group can refer back to the book for greater insight into your comment.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Please comment with any format related suggestions, questions, or celebrations.

See you in the Vortex,
Rebbie

Abraham-Hicks: The Power of the Mind

"I Have Complete Control Over My Own Thoughts… You can find yourself in an endless loop where you explain that you feel negative because of the negative behavior of someone else. But if, instead, you take control of your own emotions and you think an improved thought because it feels better to do so, you will discover that no matter how the negative trend got started, you can turn it around. You have no real control of what anyone else is doing with their Vibration (or with their actions, for that matter), but you have complete control over your own thoughts, Vibrations, emotions, and point of attraction."

From "The Vortex" – Abraham-Hicks

So many people think of staunch stoicism when the idea of controlling the mind enters a conversation.  It's like you must become the general of an army to control your thoughts.  It sounds like really hard work. You need a uniform or a badge and as you start policing your thoughts they just get more outrageously misbehaved.

Abraham (Abraham-Hicks) offers a completely different approach to the notion of controlling your thoughts. And in my experience it is way more effective. Rather than conjuring law enforcement images with our thoughts as the criminals, Abraham's approach inspires the fresh breeze of freedom. It conjures bread crumb trails through the forest, flowing streams, and now, the Vortex.

By using what some might call the power of the subconscious mind, Abraham maps out a plan based on joy.  Some people call it the power of the subconscious mind because they recognize that it takes no conscious effort.  It seems to happen all on its own.

The ease of including Law of Attraction in your plans makes controlling your thoughts natural, spontaneous and almost effortless.  It does takes some effort to set the wave in motion, but once you take conscious control of your focus, the rest happens thanks to Law of Attraction.
