 So many people think of staunch stoicism when the idea of controlling the mind enters a conversation.  It’s like you must become the general of an army to control your thoughts.  It sounds like really hard work. You need a uniform or a badge and as you start policing your thoughts they just get more outrageously misbehaved.

Abraham (Abraham-Hicks) offers a completely different approach to the notion of controlling your thoughts. And in my experience it is way more effective. Rather than conjuring law enforcement images with our thoughts as the criminals, Abraham’s approach inspires the fresh breeze of freedom. It conjures bread crumb trails through the forest, flowing streams, and now, the Vortex.

By using what some might call the power of the subconscious mind, Abraham maps out a plan based on joy.  Some people call it the power of the subconscious mind because they recognize that it takes no conscious effort.  It seems to happen all on its own.

The ease of including Law of Attraction in your plans makes controlling your thoughts natural, spontaneous and almost effortless.  It does takes some effort to set the wave in motion, but once you take conscious control of your focus, the rest happens thanks to Law of Attraction.

  1. I started reading the book in the middle of it. For me since I desire to attract a mate, Mating and the Law of Attraction was a compelling place to start the book. I’ll go back to the beginning and let it all move into me. It’s a wonderful re-membering.

  6. Just started reading the book and half way through. It’s like medicine to my soul right now. The words just make so much sense to me. Wish I could share it with the world, but know that many are not yet ready to absorb Abraham’s teachings. Amazing.

  8. I just ordered the book from Amazon and am waiting for it to arrive. This will be the first Abraham book I’ve read so I hope that I am not missing out by picking up the series midstream…? in other words should I read the other books first?

    To answer your question,I think it’s just fine to jump right in with this book.

    If you really want to get one other book as a foundation, I’d get “Ask and it is Given.” But really, Abraham is always full and complete in each now so I think you’ll be just fine.

  13. i don’t have the yet though I’ve ordered it, i’ve read a few of the Abraham Hicks books and a couple of Louise Hay books .. would love a study group … to keep motivated .. to keep grounded and to help with this feeling of being detached

  14. A study blog IS a good idea and it looks like you have plenty of interest. I intend to buy the book and have watched the video excerpt many times. Starting on my relationship to myself might even be a good idea! Getting in the Vortex sounds like a new version of daydreaming – with more detail and getting more into the feeling of our desires…

  22. Hello from Ireland. Got the book a few days ago and have read bits and pieces from it that I specifically wanted to know about. Have a particular interest in the parent and child relationship area as I have two very small children and am always wanting to know the best way to relate to them. It’s wonderful. I’ve already put it into action – my toddler was misbehaving and I had decided to keep in alignment with source energy no matter what. I found I was much better able to deal with the situation in a calm, relaxed manner and he responded accordingly. Can’t wait to delve into the book more!

  23. A study group .. what a great idea .. MUCH APPRECIATED! I came across a YouTube vid on Esther speaking about the Vortex and it has helped me so much in my current situation of a young teen son who is being bullied and is at a level of despair. I now know that ‘going out in sympathy’ with him is not in his best interests .. I can not go ‘out of my vortex’ to ‘go and get him’, as such .. I am of most value to him if I can learn to remain in my vortex. The understanding of moving up the vibrational scale from depression up through anger, revenge etc, has also been such an eye opener to me. Instead of slapping my son down for the anger he is venting on me, I am recognizing it as his attempt to reach for a better feeling place, and I am allowing ‘what is’ to be and for him to move up from that place of depression. IT’S ALL GOOD!

  31. My book and audio-book are both on their way. I’ve been a streamer of Abraham-Hicks updates for years and can vouch for everything I’ve heard/read of theirs. I know it works from experience and as an outcome-based idealist I’m into what works – and am into a win-win-win – for all involved.

  32. My only exposure to Abraham material is through “Daily Quote” emails, which I enjoy. I’m going to get “The Vortex” and participate in this study group. I read on a book review that this is not the best Abraham book to start with – does anyone familiar with other Abraham books have any thoughts on that?

  35. I have the book and have begun reading it. I have been an Abraham student for several years and have read previous books – this one seems particularly powerful.
    The quote re: being more attentive to how one feels rather than to what others are thinking caught my attention, too. I am aware of how often in my life I disregard my own feelings in an attempt to gain favor or smooth things over or to conform – when none of those are really what I want. So good to be reminded!!!!
    Looking forward to this “study group” as a way to bounce questions, comments, insights off one another.
