In the last focus, I asked you to consider Page 3 para. 3. of The Vortex by Esther and Jerry Hicks (The Teachings of Abraham)

I think I already mentioned we’d be going through this slowly, right?

Good, because now we move on to paragraph 4.

In respect for the copyright of this book, I will be using page and paragraph references most of the time, rather than direct quotes. I know this is less convenient, but while you have the book open, you can also get more context, read the surrounding ideas, and scribble in the margins to your heart’s content.

Enjoyment

Ok, so last time we pondered the notion of going from enjoyment to enjoyment. We considered the idea of having set a pre-birth intention to enjoy every moment.

Now let’s go a little further.

Please read the paragraph that begins with, "Before your birth into your physical body…" P3 p4

Contrast

Now, let’s talk a little bit about contrast.  Abraham often asks you if you have "come to appreciate the contrast of your time and place."  Here, on page 3 of The Vortex, we’re finding out that our relationships with each other are the primary source of the contrast we live.  Interesting!  And yet we welcome it (from our non-physical perspective). We love it.  We can’t get enough of it!

So please consider this:

When you:

·    are harmonized with your broader knowing
·    feel empowered
·    don’t feel like a victim of the contrast you are living

. . . you welcome the contrast.  You perceive the contrast as the birthplace of your expansion and your potential for joy.

Then, all these relationships that run hot and cold, with their highs and lows, and all the contrast we find with the people in our lives, it all becomes the raw material of joy.

So, now it is apparent that the idea of setting a pre-birth intention of enjoying every moment has infinite potential.  But maybe not the way we thought at first.

Where we might have originally read that statement of an intention for continuous enjoyment and interpreted it to mean that life would be a series of enjoyable, pleasurable moments, we now see a completely different picture emerging.

And what a relief!

Because, if the fulfillment of our intention for enjoyment were dependent on conditions, we’d be in big trouble, fast.

Empowerment

But what a breath of fresh air it is to know that the contrast is welcome – that our enjoyment of the moment is not conditional – that we are in charge of our state, regardless of conditions.  Whew!  This is good news.

Well, maybe it’s not news to you.  Maybe you’ve gone to seminars and read books and you’ve held this conscious idea for many years.  (Me too.) Good.  Now we can all deepen our living of this knowing, no matter what our relationship to this truth is at this moment – whether it’s old news or new news.

Try This

So here is a little game you can play.  When you’ve got something going on that you do not want, watch your reaction.  It will tell you very clearly whether you are looking at the situation from a perspective that is in harmony with your Inner Being or not.

If there is upset with someone or something or some group of people, or some condition, all that means is that the feeling is one of disempowerment.  In that moment there is a feeling of being a victim.   At this point, so early in our journey together, let’s feel the empowerment of simply noticing these moments as they happen.

More to come…

With Love,
Rebbie

The comments (your comments) on this blog are the heart of this discussion.  I’ve been enjoying sensing the high level of involvement in the book and the authenticity of the offerings of all of you who are part of this study group.

And so, of course I want to encourage the flow of your sharing as part of the joyful journey into, and back into, and back into The Vortex.

Here is a technical tuning I want to highlight today.

I received this email which told me that some clarification would be useful:

Hi Rebbie,
Thanks for starting the Votex group -love it!  Just some quick feedback – when i came to post my comment, I could only find one area to comment.  In a previous email, I thought you had created a section where we could share under different topics such as AHA, process etc, but i could only find a place to comment under the daily blog.  Maybe it’s hard to set up, but that would make it easier to keep all comments about the same topics in one place.

Thank you again for creating this gigantic flow of positive transformative energy xxx

It’s true, there is only one place to comment.  I was suggesting that you could make the first line of your comment a category if you like. That way readers can organize their reading of the comments in a way that suits their mood. Here were the suggested categories:

  • Question – This will be helpful to me so that I can scan through and get to questions as quickly as possible.
  • Aha – Good for sudden realizations.
  • Sharing – How it is working in your life.
  • Pondering – Think out "loud" as you process

Feel free to create your own category or to not use any.

With Love,
Rebbie

PS – I just left a comment on this post as an example.

How different would your life look if you went from enjoyment to enjoyment?

Listen to today’s focus here:

[mc src=”http://blogaudio.s3.amazonaws.com/vortex/yofa-vortex-sg-p3.mp3″/]

Today’s focus may surprise you with its simplicity.  And yet it is at the basis of everything we are about to do. (Can you see how this is a hint about your Inner Guidance System?)

And have you been reading the comments? They are uplifting and filled with light and wisdom. Your "word snapshots" of your process carry us all forward. Thank you for such beautiful participation.

Here is a suggestion from Cathy that I want to highlight for those who might not be aware of this:

I haven’t received my book yet… it’s on backorder from Hay House, but I thought I’d pass this on.  You can subscribe to Abraham-Hicks’ Daily LOA Quote at the link below. The quotes are all from ‘The Vortex,’ I believe. So, in a way I’ve gotten started with my reading.

Yes, right now they are from "The Vortex" and what a great idea, especially for those who are eagerly waiting for the book!

Part One of The Vortex by Esther and Jerry Hicks and Abraham is so concentrated that we could probably devote ourselves to that one section and never run out of juice.

I’d like to go through these mini-chapters with a fine tooth comb. So, I recommend that you read the book at your own pace, and let’s use this first segment of the book as a hub.

Feel free to refer to other parts of the book in your comments if you’ve read ahead.  Think of our study as multidimensional and multi rhythmic.

Here’s what I mean by that:

Your individual reading, focus, and application of the book may run faster and include more specifics, while our study here is slow and deep.  With time, you will see many connections between your own private exploration of this teaching and the conversations we are about to have.

So, let these two run side by side.  Something wonderful is happening here.

Notes:

Abraham-Hicks
I’d like to take a moment here to thank Jerry and Esther and Abraham for their profound influence on my life.  And since you are interested in "The Vortex," I want to encourage you to sign up for their tape programs, read their books, and go to their live workshops.  (You probably already do all that!)

YOFA (The Yoga of Alignment)
I’d also like to take a moment to acknowledge that, since I’ll be leading this group, our focus will no doubt take on a YOFA flavor.  I know some of you are deeply involved in the YOFA process of Inner Alignment while others may never have heard of it before.  As we move through "The Vortex" I’ll be pointing out some of the beautiful dovetailing that occurs.

Q & A

A couple of people asked if this is a good book to start with if they’re new to the Abraham Teachings .

I answered one of these questions as follows:

I think it’s just fine to jump right in with this book.

If you really want to get one other book as a foundation, I’d get "Ask and it is Given." But really, Abraham is always full and complete in each now so I think you’ll be just fine.

Also, have you heard their intro recordings? You can listen or download for free here:

I invite your input to help the newcomers feel their way through this rich material. How would you answer that question?

Abraham-Hicks Study Group: The Vortex – Jerry’s Preface/Stable Footing/Your Intention

Focus: Pages xi-xvii Preface by Jerry Hicks

Jerry describes the "hub" of the Abraham teachings as follows:

"The basis of life is freedom; the result of life is expansion–and the purpose of life is joy."

 =========================
We interrupt this broadcast…
=========================

Well, I wrote that yesterday in preparation for this post, but as life would have it, some blessed contrast caught my attention between then and now.  So, with Jerry’s quote as a backdrop, let me tell you what just happened.

I was riding in my friend’s car, "The Vortex" and pencil in hand, re-reading chapter one.  Basking in the wonderful feeling of our upcoming study group, appreciating the pull to read even more carefully because of my role in all this, I was marking up a storm in the book.

Beautiful day, we stopped, I got out of the car, lost my footing, injured my ankle and was now back in the car seat, ice, moans, groans, and having a harder time finding my way back into The Vortex.

Once the pain came down to a dull roar, I picked up my book again.  "Hmm. Where was I? Let me start reading again to remind myself what’s important here."

I found the last line that I had read and underlined.  There it was on page 9. – Oh by the way, although I probably will not get around to posting this today, today’s date is 09/09/09:

"Without exception, the flawed premise or unstable footing that most people stand on is because they care more about what someone else is thinking about them than how they themselves are feeling." – from The Vortex – Abraham-Hicks

Well, there was my first big "step one experience" to "kick" off our group with a bang.  Now I am excited.  Better understanding what "unstable footing" really means, I can see I’ve got my work cut out for me. I call it "work" but it is thrilling to anticipate the journey of caring less what others think and tuning more into how I feel.

So let’s begin with these two notions:

  1. "The basis of life is freedom; the result of life is expansion–and the purpose of life is joy."
  2. "Without exception, the flawed premise or unstable footing that most people stand on is because they care more about what someone else is thinking about them than how they themselves are feeling."

Those who want to be actively involved in this group, please do 2 things right now:

  1. Since there are so many people interested in this group, please register here so that I can communicate with you more easily:
SIGN UP FOR THIS GROUP HERE
  2. Start getting your hands in the clay and comment below.  Make a rough statement of your intention.

The focus offered in this book can generate a complete transformation in your life.

Start pondering these 2 quotes (above) and write your thoughts in the comment field below.  Since this is a process, your comment does not need to be a finely crafted purpose statement for your life.  Write down a "work in progress" rough sketch of your intention in reading this book and in intensifying your reading by joining in this group. Make it as general or specific as you like. You can and will continually amend your intention.

By writing, you sharpen your focus and tune your point of attraction.

You also heighten your inner guidance. Pay special attention to how you feel as you write. I love when something I think is true for me feels wrong when I write it. It gives me clarity about a place where I am off track and I can look more purely into my heart for what my true desire is. This is a great way to more finely tune in to your Inner Guidance.

As always, I am deeply honored that you join me on this journey.

With Love,
Rebbie

Thank You phenomeNEWS!

phenomeNEWS

Louise Hay has called phenomeNEWS, "the best of the New Age newspapers in the whole country!"  (Snowball finds it to be an excellent pillow.)

I think it was December of 2000 when my first article was published in phenomeNEWS.  I had picked up the paper at an Abraham-Hicks gathering a few months before.  It first grabbed my attention because there was an Abraham article (or excerpt) in there and as soon as I saw Jerry and Esther’s smiling faces on the page, I new I wanted to look further.

I was immediately lit up by this publication and I sent in my first submission not knowing that the folks at phenomeNEWS would become my long distance family of the heart.

Now, I figure it’s about 8 years, 97 articles, and a deep and ongoing gratitude later, that I find myself with no more article due date this month.

PhenomeNEWS has reached its completion and it will always hold a very beautiful place in my heart.

Actually, if you are reading this, it is probably at least partly thanks to phenomeNEWS.  They put me on the map and many of the people I reach now know of my work because of all these years of churning my personal process out into monthly articles that found print in Michigan and pixels on the web thanks to Cindy and Gerri and  all the wonderful folks at phenomeNEWS.  They have made a huge impact on my life and I’m sure whatever they do next will brighten our world.  I will always think of them with love and gratitude.

Have a message of gratitude for the phenomeNEWS team?  Post a comment below.  Thanks!
